Touch a point and set the ripple in motion

In the Worldinterflow game, six coloured points drift across the screen. Touch one of them and watch as an impulse sets off from it. It makes a sound, branches out, travels onwards, reaches other points and continues through them. The trace of a single movement can keep circulating through the space for quite a while.

Then touch another point. Eventually, the two waves meet: their colours blend, their sounds resonate together, and the encounter gives rise to new movement. You provided the initial pushes, but what unfolds from them is also shaped by everything they meet along the way.

This is the Worldinterflow game – or at least the first one. It is a small space of light and sound where you can linger for a while, relax, experiment and observe. After a few touches, you can even sit back and simply follow where the things you set in motion end up.

The points briefly retain the impulses that reach them. If another one arrives in the meantime, the two can continue onwards together with greater strength. Something that would slowly fade away on its own can gain new momentum through an encounter. Meanwhile, the points themselves drift between different sound zones, so the same touch can sound different at another time and in another place.

Worldinterflow is about the interconnected processes flowing through the world: how we carry onwards what reaches us, while changing it in the process. A sentence becomes a conversation. An idea finds its continuation in someone else. An old experience acquires new meaning through a new encounter. In this game, you can experience something of that through light and sound.

It is worth playing with time and with the character of the sounds as well. Wait between two touches, or launch several waves from different directions at once. Change the tempo, the soundscape or the instrument and listen to how the whole changes with them. There is no goal to complete, no grand solution to discover and no score to collect. But while listening to the harmonies, you may begin to notice just how much can follow from one small movement.

You can also share the space with others. Open a shared room, send out the invitation and set a few waves in motion together. What one of you begins can be affected by what another adds.

Then you can watch where they meet.
